OurFamilyWizard to Google Calendar

Your OurFamilyWizard calendar, in Google Calendar.

OFWSync turns your OFW schedule into a calendar you subscribe to once in Google Calendar. Parenting time, handoffs and events show up next to work and everything else, on your computer and your phone, and change when OFW changes.

What shows up in Google Calendar

It's read-only and one-way. We never post, message or change anything in OFW.

Set it up in about five minutes

You only do this once. After that, changes in OFW come through on their own.

Want more detail? Read How to Sync OurFamilyWizard With Google Calendar.

  1. 1 Sign up for OFWSync, then enter your OurFamilyWizard email and password. We check them with OFW and start your first sync, which usually takes a minute or two.
  2. 2 Choose what comes across in Feed settings: parenting time, handoffs, events, or all three. Name each household and pick how far ahead to sync.
  3. 3 Open your OFWSync dashboard on a computer and choose Google.
  4. 4 Click Add to Google Calendar. Google asks whether to add the calendar; click Add.
  5. 5 It appears under Other calendars. Rename it, recolor it or hide it like any other calendar.
  6. 6 Open Google Calendar on your phone. It's there too, because it's part of your Google account.

How fast changes show up

On Lite, we check OFW once a day; On Plus, we check OFW every hour. Compare plans

Google Calendar fetches subscribed calendars on its own schedule, which can take several hours, and there's no way to make it refresh sooner. Your dashboard shows when we last checked OFW, so you can tell whether a change is waiting on us or on Google.

Your OFW password, handled carefully

OurFamilyWizard has no way to give another app read-only access, so we sign in as you to read your calendar. Your password is encrypted before we store it and used for nothing else, and disconnecting deletes it straight away. How we protect your sign-in

Can I add it from the Google Calendar app on my phone?
Not directly. Google's phone app can't add a calendar from a link. Add it once in a browser on a computer, signed in to the same Google account, and it shows up on your phone as well.
Why hasn't a change in OFW reached Google Calendar yet?
Two things have to happen: we have to see the change in OFW (every hour on Plus, once a day on Lite), then Google has to fetch your feed again, which can take several hours. Apple Calendar lets you choose how often it checks, so it's quicker if you need same-day changes.
Will it get mixed in with my own events?
No. It's a separate calendar under Other calendars, so you can show, hide or recolor it without touching anything else. It's read-only: changes are made in OFW and come through on the next sync.
Can my partner or the grandparents see it too?
Give them your feed link and they can subscribe in their own calendar app. Anyone with the link can see the schedule, so share it only with people you trust. If you need to cut someone off, reset the link from Feed settings.

Use a different calendar?

Any calendar app that can subscribe to a calendar by link works too.
